A Prayer for Peace Amidst a Multitude of Storms

In my book, Slaying Dragons: What Exorcists See & What We Should Know, I mentioned a prayer that I wrote for a friend of mine to help alleviate what seemed like diabolical oppression which had become burdensome in the friend's life.

This prayer is mentioned in Chapter Three, under the section titled "Oppression."  Here is a snippet from that section, which contains the story about the prayer:

Diabolical oppression involves those things that affect a person’s life from the outside. These can include all aspects of a person’s life. From their experiences, exorcists have witnessed these extraordinary manifestations firsthand. Fr. Ripperger says that diabolical oppression can appear as inexplicable financial difficulties, such as the inability to obtain employment despite being highly qualified and applying for multiple jobs, or being fired all of a sudden. Oppression can manifest and cause a person’s possessions to chronically break down, despite reasonable efforts to keep them in good order. Fr. Amorth points out that it can also cause divisions within marriages, tear apart friendships, and leave the person isolated. This is, of course, the goal of the devil who, as Fr. Grob mentions, “lives to instill fear and isolation in the human soul.”

Everyday life, such as in jobs, can be affected by oppression as well. Fr. Ripperger said he was helping a doctor for whom many patients were refusing to pay and were simply not showing up for appointments. He wrote a prayer for him to address the matter and the problem resolved within a week.

This author, after studying Fr. Ripperger’s teachings, and discerning prudent responses to similar peculiar situations, had a friend in a similar situation as this doctor. For years, this friend had the experience of seeing clients with the most peculiar and atypically complicated situations. Other professionals, with whom they worked, agreed that something was odd and that a “black cloud” seemed to be following them. The experience was the same at multiple offices where they had worked. I wrote a prayer that addressed the specific problem that seemed to be at the root of all of this, using the general spiritual warfare wisdom that Father teaches, and gave the prayer to this friend. Just as Father describes, the prayer worked as if it was blocking something. On the days when this friend forgets to say the prayer, the experience in the office is as bizarre as it used to be.

I have been wanting to share the prayer for a while but continue to forget to do so.  Below is this prayer, slightly modified to be more generally applicable to people in a variety of situations where, these days, there may be more diabolical interference.

A Prayer for Peace Amidst a Multitude of Storms

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, Most Immaculate Heart of Mary, I place my trust in you.
Virgin Most Powerful, pray for us.

O Virgin Most Powerful, cast far away from me the evil spirits that seek to corrupt my trust in Our Lord, confuse my faith in His goodness and Providence, and weaken my love for Him.

Our Lady, Undoer of Knots, intercede for me and obtain for me freedom from any evil orchestrations. Break up any efforts of the evil one to cause ______________.* Let me be freed from these demonic aggravations that my peace may be restored.

In the Name of Jesus Christ, I command you, spirit of ________,* to depart from me and leave me in peace, and I bind you and cast you to the foot of the Cross to be judged by Our Lord.

O Mother of Sorrows, you know the plans that Our Lord has for me. Help me to know them as well, and to follow them, and to trust that His love and Providence are guiding all events in my life. Let me rest with confidence in His arms, and find peace knowing that He is with me, as He was with Peter, in the midst of the storms that seek to distract me from His love.

O, Our Blessed Lady and Queen, protect me with your authority, and obtain for me, through your intercession with Our Lord, the grace to love Him well. Amen.

* "spirit" can be - fear, anxiety, obstruction, technological interference, disease and illness, manifestation of false diseases and illness, division in my home or family or workplace, temptations to impurity and indulgence, etc.
